Mō te tūranga | About the Role
A Permanent Reliever is an experienced Support Worker who fills in for staff members during planned or unplanned leave, offering essential support across various houses and services. You’ll have fixed days of work, with mandatory rostered shifts, and consistent days off.
Each fortnight your roster will be populated with the guaranteed 80x hours hands on across various services. The specific hours and shifts will vary each fortnight, and include mornings, afternoons, evenings, and sleepovers, providing a dynamic and rewarding work experience.
We are looking for someone who enjoys variety and can adapt their support style to meet the diverse needs of the people we support.
Ngā kawenga tūnga | Responsibilities
You will be supporting people with disabilities in a range of settings including in their home, out in the community and at our day services.
The people we support love getting out into the community, whether its shopping, beach walks, coffee and cake outings, visiting friends, supporting the Crusaders, going to markets and fairs, or heading to the pub for a pint, to name just a few.
The people we support have varying levels of need, and daily tasks vary from service to service but may include:
- Cooking
- Cleaning
- Medication administration
- Store purchasing
- Personal cares
- Facilitating community participation and recreational activities
- Supporting people to achieve their goals
Nga haora kua tohua | Rostered hours:
You will have the choice to pick the following roster patterns, if successful these will be your permanent days of work:
- Tuesday to Saturday
- Sunday to Thursday
- Thursday to Monday
Guaranteed hours per fortnight: 80
Mō koe | About You
- We are looking for people who are resilient, self-motivated, empathetic, and who have a passion for helping others and making a real difference in people’s lives.
- You'll be a team player, with a positive outlook, able to problem solve using sound judgement and skills to manage risk and make thoughtful decisions.
- You will have previous or relevant experience of 2 years with a Level 3 Health and Wellbeing Certificate or equivalent qualification.
- Candidates will need to complete police vetting.
- A commitment to upholding the principles of Te Tiriti o Waitangi in all aspects of the role.
- Availability to work across mornings, afternoons, evenings, and sleepovers on rostered days of work.

We feel that the title Support Coordinator better reflects the nature of the role, which requires working in partnership with the people receiving support to ensure we are achieving our organisation mission of every life fully lived.
