Mō te tūranga | About the Role
Moana Service is a welcoming home for three wonderful ladies, aged from their late twenties to mid-thirties, who flat together in a supported independent living environment.
Tamara is largely independent and enjoys spending her days exploring the outdoors, engaging in arts and crafts, and spending quality time with her boyfriend. She is passionate about indoor bowls and Jolt dance. Tamara requires some support to maintain her personal care, health, and wellbeing, as well as to enhance her weekly routine and achieve her personal goals.
Maya is very sociable and thrives in the Hōhepa community. She participates in Hōhepa's day programme during the week, assists the maintenance crew with small tasks, and is learning to play the drums. Maya needs support to maintain her personal care, health, and wellbeing, and to keep a consistent routine.
Rosie is embarking on a significant transition as she moves from her family home to flatting for the first time. She will be attending Hōhepa's day programme from Monday to Friday. Rosie loves socialising, enjoys a diverse range of music, dancing, painting, drama, acting, and outdoor activities. She will need support to adapt to flatting and to navigate this new experience. Rosie is very organised and quite independent, with a strong preference for routine.
You will be energetic, empathetic and able to work alongside this person focussing on creating a life of rich and diverse experiences while being able to read situations, problem solve and apply boundaries or offer space.
Daily tasks include supporting with daily routines while encouraging independence to develop skills and personal growth. You will have the confidence to support personal cares, cooking, medication administration, and household tasks. You will be passionate about supporting and extending people’s ability to access and be part of their wider community. If you are looking for a new challenge this could be the opportunity for you.
This position's salary scale is set by pay equity and dependant on qualification level, pays between $23.50 and $28.25 per hour.
Nga haora kua tohua | Rostered hours:
- Wednesday to Friday 7am to 9am and 4pm to 8pm
- Saturday 2pm to 8pm
Total Hours per fortnight: 48

Your aroha and approach is what really matters at Hōhepa – previous experience is not a prerequisite because we provide on-the-job training. You will either be an experienced Support Worker looking for a change or you are simply looking for a career where your enthusiasm and passion for helping others will make a real difference in people’s lives.
