Mō te tūranga | About the Role
In this role you will be supporting two females on a 1:1 basis at different time of the day.
Aroha Service is based in Somerfield, near the Hōhepa campus. It is home to Josie, who has been living independently for the past few years and has recently moved into her new home. Josie is a very extroverted young woman who enjoys chatting with people and has a keen interest in fashion and beauty.
Emerald Service is based at the Hōhepa campus and home to Kelsey who is learning to live independently in her flat. Kelsey is in her 30's and she needs support with food shopping preparation, choosing healthy options and help with the housework.
Kelsey needs emotional support to encourage her to help her continue to grow and develop as an independent woman. Kelsey enjoys looking after her cat, going to community and anthroposophical events, art, swimming and seeing her friends and family.
In this role we are looking for a person who is resilient, self-motivated, empathetic, and who has a passion for helping others and making a real difference in people’s lives. You'll be a strong person with a positive and open-minded outlook, able to problem solve using sound judgement, manage risk and make thoughtful decisions.
Daily tasks include supporting with daily routines while encouraging independence to develop skills and personal growth. You will have the confidence to support personal cares, cooking, medication administration, and household tasks. You will be passionate about supporting and extending people’s ability to access and be part of their wider community. If you are looking for a new challenge this could be the opportunity for you.
This position's salary scale is set by pay equity and dependant on qualification level, pays between $23.50 and $28.25 per hour.
Nga haora kua tohua | Rostered hours:
- Monday to Friday 11am to 4pm (Aroha), 4pm to 7pm (Emerald)
Total Hours per fortnight: 80

Your aroha and approach is what really matters at Hōhepa – previous experience is not a prerequisite because we provide on-the-job training. You will either be an experienced Support Worker looking for a change or you are simply looking for a career where your enthusiasm and passion for helping others will make a real difference in people’s lives.
