Mō te tūranga | About the Role
Veltoma Service, based in Halswell at The Hōhepa Farm is looking for one part time Support Worker to join the team.
In this role you will be supporting a group of four young people (three males and one female) who are passionate about a variety of activities.
- Luke loves savoury, spicy food and enjoys socialising with familiar people. He likes drives, beach visits, and listening to nursery rhymes like Frère Jacques. Family time is important to him, and he often spends weekends with them.
- Suzy is creative and enjoys crafting, cross-stitching, and drawing. She loves her Barney toys, baking, and having her nails painted. Active and energetic, she likes swimming, going to the gym, the trampoline, and visiting the supermarket.
- Mike enjoys technology, especially YouTube and his iPad. He loves outings to the cinema, Timezone, Orana Park, and the beach. Golf is a favourite hobby, and he also helps at home with tasks like vacuuming and rubbish.
- Don enjoys outings with flatmates and takeaway meals, especially KFC. He loves learning, reading, and maths worksheets. He spends time on his tablet exploring maps and enjoys shows like The Simpsons and Pokémon. Bowling, movies, golf, and gym sessions are also favourites.
You will be energetic, empathetic and able to work alongside this person focussing on creating a life of rich and diverse experiences while being able to read situations, problem solve and apply boundaries or offer space.
Daily tasks include supporting with daily routines while encouraging independence to develop skills and personal growth. You will have the confidence to support personal cares, cooking, medication administration, and household tasks. You will be passionate about supporting and extending people’s ability to access and be part of their wider community. If you are looking for a new challenge this could be the opportunity for you.
This position's salary scale is set by pay equity and dependant on qualification level, pays between $23.50 and $29.10 per hour.
Nga haora kua tohua | Rostered hours:
- Sunday to Wednesday 4pm to 7pm
- Saturday 4pm to 9:30pm, 9:30pm to 7am (Sleepover)
Total Sleepover hours: 19 | Total hands-on hours: 35
Total Hours per fortnight: 54
