Mō te tūranga | About the Role
Ahuru Service is based in Aidenfield which is less than a 10minute drive from the Hōhepa Campus and is looking for two new Support Workers!
In this role you will be supporting three men who are in their 20s each with their own interest, support needs and routines.
Gary enjoys badminton, art therapy, waiata group, music and movement, attending church with his parents on weekends, and other community events. He also likes watching indoor sports and shopping. Gary uses a communication device to support his interactions.
Harry attends the LEAP Day base. He loves swimming, visiting Hagley Park and the Botanic Gardens, exploring art galleries, and going for a ride on the gondola or tram. He also enjoys walks to places like Halswell Quarry and Brighton Beach.
James attends LEAP during the week and enjoys an hour-long walk each day, as well as a workout if there’s equipment at a nearby park. He loves having Korean food, as staying connected to his culture is important to him. James enjoys a consistent routine and requires support with personal cares.
You will be energetic, empathetic and able to work alongside this person focussing on creating a life of rich and diverse experiences while being able to read situations, problem solve and apply boundaries or offer space. Daily tasks include supporting with daily routines while encouraging independence to develop skills and personal growth. You will have the confidence to support personal cares, cooking, medication administration, and household tasks. You will be passionate about supporting and extending people’s ability to access and be part of their wider community. If you are looking for a new challenge this could be the opportunity for you.
This position's salary scale is set by pay equity and dependant on qualification level, pays between $23.50 and $29.10 per hour.

Sunday 6am to 7am
Thursday 3pm to 9:30pm, 9:30pm to 6am (Sleepover)
Friday 6am to 7am, 3pm to 9:30pm, 9:30pm to 6am (Sleepover)
Saturday 6am to 7am, 3pm to 9:30pm, 9:30pm to 6am (Sleepover)
Hands on hours: 45 | Sleepover hours: 51
Total Hours per fortnight: 96
Position 2
Sunday and Monday 7am to 3pm
Friday and Saturday 7am to 3pm
Total Hours per fortnight: 64

We feel that the title Support Coordinator better reflects the nature of the role, which requires working in partnership with the people receiving support to ensure we are achieving our organisation mission of every life fully lived.
