Mō te tūranga | About the Role

St John Service is based at our main Hōhepa Campus and is looking for a new Support Worker!

In this role you will be supporting three men who are aged between their 40 and 60s with their own interest, support needs and routines.

• Noel enjoys going for walks, completing puzzles and crosswords, and spending time taking things apart and putting them back together again.

• Steve enjoys knitting and likes helping with grocery shopping and other household tasks.

• Burt is a passionate rugby fan who enjoys following the game, as well as carving with both wood and stone.

The men enjoy spending time together and head out each week for shared activities such as bowling, going out for dessert, or watching a rugby game. They also love attending Hōhepa events and value maintaining friendships and connections within the Hōhepa community.

You will be energetic, empathetic and able to work alongside this person focussing on creating a life of rich and diverse experiences while being able to read situations, problem solve and apply boundaries or offer space.  Daily tasks include supporting with daily routines while encouraging independence to develop skills and personal growth. You will have the confidence to support personal cares, cooking, medication administration, and household tasks. You will be passionate about supporting and extending people’s ability to access and be part of their wider community. If you are looking for a new challenge this could be the opportunity for you. 

This position's salary scale is set by pay equity and dependant on qualification level, pays between $23.95 and $30 per hour.

Week One

• Sunday 4pm to 9:30pm, 9:30pm to 7am (Sleepover)

• Monday 7am to 9am, 4pm to 9:30pm, 9:30pm to 7am (Sleepover)

• Tuesday 7am to 9am

• Saturday 4pm to 10:30pm, 10:30pm to 8am (Sleepover)

Week Two

• Sunday 4pm to 9:30pm, 9:30pm to 7am (Sleepover)

• Monday 7am to 9am, 4pm to 9:30pm, 9:30pm to 7am (Sleepover)

• Tuesday 7am to 9am

Hands on hours: 36.5 | Sleepover hours: 47.5

Total Hours per fortnight: 84
