This is a unique and rewarding opportunity combining dedicated one-on-one support with a person we support at Aroha Service, alongside working as a Permanent Reliever across a range of Hōhepa services.
Aroha Service Role
Aroha Service, based in Sydenham, is home to Josie — a vibrant and outgoing young woman with a love for fashion, beauty, and social connection.
In this role, you will work one-on-one with Josie, supporting her to continue building her independence and confidence across all areas of daily living. This includes support with cooking, cleaning, budgeting, personal care, and encouraging participation in community and social activities.
You will play an important role in creating a consistent, respectful, and empowering environment. Josie can present with behaviours that may require additional support and takes time to build trusting relationships, so patience, empathy, and a calm, grounded approach are essential.
You will need to be confident in:
Building trust over time
Setting clear, consistent boundaries
Reading situations and responding appropriately
Providing space when needed
Permanent Reliever Role
As a Permanent Reliever, you will provide support across a range of Hōhepa services, covering both planned and unplanned leave. You will work a fixed roster pattern with consistent days off, with 80 guaranteed hours per fortnight, across a range of shifts including mornings, afternoons, evenings, and sleepovers.
In this role, you will support people in their daily routines while encouraging independence and personal growth. This includes assisting with personal care, cooking, medication administration, household tasks, and supporting people to engage in their community.
You will need to be adaptable, empathetic, and confident in reading situations, problem-solving, setting boundaries, and providing space when needed.
Permanent Relievers also receive a $500 (pro rata) bonus every 6 months.
This position's salary scale is set by pay equity and dependant on qualification level, pays between $23.95 and $29.10 per hour.

Aroha Monday and Thursday 9am to 12pm
Permanent Reliever - Sunday to Thursday
Total hours per fortnight: 80
Position 2
Aroha Tuesday and Friday 9am to 12pm
Permanent Reliever - Tuesday to Saturday

Mō koe | About You
We are looking for an experienced Support Worker who enjoys variety and can confidently adapt their support style to meet the diverse needs of the people we support.
You will bring a strong person-centred approach, along with the ability to build trusting relationships over time. You will be confident in setting clear boundaries while remaining approachable, and have the patience and resilience to support someone who may present with challenging behaviours.
To be successful in this role, you will be:

Self-motivated, energetic, and flexible
